10月25日, ASA (African Student Association) and 冲刺 (西雅图 Pacific Reachout Internationally )hosted students, 工作人员, and faculty to a special event called “Reexamining the Berlin Conference: How Africa was Colonized and its Lasting Impacts” 下午5点 in the 图书馆 Seminar Room. Professors Matthieu Gnouhossou and Rebecca Hughes will share their insights as to how the continent was exploited and its historic and current effects for the land and its peoples.
Colombia's Political and Economic Context within Social Unrest
5月10日, 冲刺 recorded a Zoom session with Pedro de la Puente, a grad student they met from their 冲刺 trip in 2019. Pedro shared some of 他的经验 and expertise in highlighting some of the inequalities that COVID brought to light in Colombia. Pedro spoke to the nation's history of violence, 不平等, and its unwillingness to confront its past issues may ultimately cause Colombia some of the same harm.
